#Top video games of 2015 Ps4#
Roundabout came out on PS4 this year and I started that 4 days ago and I love it and I want everyone to play it.Fallout 4 didn’t make the list, even though I’m enjoying it, but I also have a lot of issues with it and most of the time I wouldn’t call it fun.Below are some random notes about my other 2015 gaming experiences, since I definitely didn’t write enough about games this year: Making this list, I mostly just wish I had more time to play those top five games. Mario Maker level building is completely iterative design, starting with an empty level, and going through 100 slightly broken versions of a level until you get your masterpiece. Quickly you realize that game design is more than just throwing a bunch of stuff on a map randomly, but with zero loading times between making and playing, Mario Maker exists for you to make mistakes.

You already know how a Mario game works, so you already know how to make a level in Mario Maker.

Little Big Planet feels like the first time you use complex 3D modeling software while Mario Maker feels like the first time you open up MS Paint.

It succeeds where every other level-creation game has failed. Nintendo gives you all the tools to make any Mario level you could dream of, and then makes the making of those levels fun. I guess that makes sense, because Super Mario Maker is the best game I could have dreamed up when I was nine. Super Mario Maker - There was a moment the first weekend that Super Mario Maker came out, where I was sitting alone in my apartment designing a course, and I realized that I was smiling like I hadn’t smiled since I was nine years old. Every side-activity that you embark on feels important, and each one gives you a valuable reward both narratively and mechanically.ġ. It does this by just barely being an open-world game, but it turns out that in some cases, that’s all the open-world you need. The game strikes a perfect balance of open-world exploration, with zero open-world jank. Rise of the Tomb Raider - I enjoyed the last Tomb Raider game, but not like I enjoyed this one. The Witcher 3 has more humanity than any other game I played this year.Ģ. Nothing is black or white in the Witcher, just gray and gross and interesting. The Witcher 3 - I played about forty hours of The Witcher 3 this year and I’m not sure I’m even halfway done with the game? I don’t understand the combat, I have no idea who any of the characters are, and sometimes it barely runs on my Xbox One, but I lost myself for hours in that world and its moral choices. Plus, as a Nintendo game, the controls were tight, the world was adorable, and every piece of it was welcoming to all gamers.ģ. Seeing the map change from their color to your color was an amazingly rewarding visceral shooter experience second only to a Gears of War Lancer blade to the face. As a guy who is awful at video games, I could feel like I was helping out my team by just finding a corner and painting the ground. Nintendo made the most fun shooter since Timesplitters, and it doesn’t even have real guns. Great fun all around and I wish I had played more of it and I will have to remedy that in 2016.Ĥ. Related or unrelated, my girlfriend did not laugh harder at me playing video games in 2015 than she did at my hilarious inability to control Rocket League. Granted, I had no idea what I was doing, and I only ever played online with random people who also had no idea what they were doing. Rocket League - I have never felt as accomplished in a video game as I did when I made a goal in Rocket League. Looking at data from the three weeks leading up to launch illustrates how much consumer anticipation and momentum each title had as it entered the marketplace.Below are my top 5 games that I played in 2015 that also came out in 2015:ĥ. The Nielsen Game Rank™ measure compiles many key consumer measures into one overall score, which is then compared with scores from previously released titles on each platform, giving a sense of the overall anticipation level for a title. In terms of console exclusives, Bloodborne had the highest anticipation from gamers on PS4, Mario Party 10 was most anticipated for Wii U gamers, and Halo 5: Guardians had the highest anticipation level among all Xbox One titles over the history of the platform to date. All four had Game Ranks of 95%-99% on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Looking back over the course of the year, there were four multi-platform titles that gamers were clamoring for the most at launch: Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront and Batman: Arkham Knight. There was a lot for gamers to be excited about in 2015 in terms of new video game releases.
